Great half day tour, from booking the night before for a next morning trip everything was well communicated and very promptly. The tour itself was made so much better by our guide and driver who took great care of us for the whole trip. Our guide was knowledgeable, courteous and interacted with us for the majority of the trip. Would recommend 👍🏻

We sell Pig Island tours, so you would expect us to say yes. The honest answer is that it depends on what you think you are buying. Koh Madsum is a small island with a long sandy beach, a beach bar, a family of pigs that come down to the water when boats arrive, and a reef on the neighbouring island of Koh Tan. It is not a wildlife reserve and it is not a deserted paradise. People who arrive expecting either of those tend to be the ones who write the disappointed reviews.
Families with children, first of all. Pigs on a beach are one of the easiest things on Samui to do with kids: flat sand, shallow water, animals that are used to crowds, and a boat ride short enough that nobody gets bored or seasick. Couples who want a half day rather than a whole one. Anyone who has already done the long Ang Thong day and wants something gentler. And, honestly, anyone who likes a good photo, because a pig wading into turquoise water in front of a longtail is a picture you cannot take anywhere else in Thailand.
Serious snorkellers, because the Koh Tan reef is shallow and pleasant rather than spectacular, and visibility drops in the wetter months. People who arrive at midday in high season, when three or four boats can be on the beach at once and the pigs have eaten their fill and retreated to the shade. And anyone who expected the island to be wild. The pigs belong to the family that runs the beach; they are fed daily and looked after, which is exactly why they are still there. Three choices decide most of it. Go in the morning, on the first boat you can get, because the beach is emptiest and the pigs are hungriest. Choose the boat for the people you are with: a shared speedboat is the cheapest seat, the catamaran is the flattest ride and the one we send families with toddlers on, and a private longtail beats both once four of you split it. For a half day with children, a morning out of a beach resort, or a first boat trip for someone nervous about the sea, yes, without hesitation. For a dedicated snorkelling day or a search for untouched Thailand, no, and we would rather tell you that now than read it in a review.
